Fast Food Healthier Choices

From time to time, stopping in at a fast food chain is just way more convenient and fast.  I always struggled in the drive thru trying to figure out what I thought the least unhealthy, but still edible item could be, and usually, I was wrong.  I figured that there must be at least a few other people out there like me, who would like a list of the "best" choices at several major fast food chains.  So I started the research, and read over tons of very shocking Nutrition fact sheets provided in the darkest back corners and pages of the fast food chain websites...  Of the companies that actually give you nutritional information, I have comprised a list of the "best" choices, for the rare times that you have to hit up a fast food joint.

I searched the main 4 that i see in most places.  McDonalds, Hardee's, Chick Fil A and Taco Bell.
Lets see the numbers!

McDonalds

Breakfast - Only on good choice I could actually recommend.
Fruit and Maple Oatmeal (290 cal. 4.5g fat, 5g protein, 160mg sodium)

Lunch/Dinner -
Premium Grilled Chicken Classic Sandwich (350 cal. 9g fat, 28g protein, 820mg sodium!)

Premium Grilled Chicken Ranch BLT Sandwich (380 cal. 10g fat, 31g protein, 1000mg sodium!)

Honey Mustard Snack Wrap Grilled (250 cal. 8g fat, 16g protein, 650mg sodium)

Chipotli BBQ Snack Wrap Grilled (250 cal. 8g fat, 16g protein, 670mg sodium)

Salads - (with either Newman's Own Low Fat Balsamic Vinaigrette (35 cal.), or Low Fat Sesame Ginger Dressing (90 cal.) - 2.5g fat each per serving and just over 400mg of sodium)

Premium Southwest Salad with Grilled Chicken (290 cal. 8g. fat, 27g protein, 650mg sodium)

Premium Southwest Salad no chicken (140 cal. 4.5g fat, 6g protein, 150mg sodium)

Hardee's

Breakfast - maybe two items here, but still its not that great!

   Pancakes (3), (300 cal. 5g fat, 8g protein, 830mg sodium)

   Grits (110 cal. 5g fat, 2g protein, 490mg sodium)

Lunch/Dinner - I must say, Hardee's is definitely leading the pack in promoting Obesity in America!

Charbroiled BBQ Chicken Sandwich (400 cal. 6g fat, 27g protein, 1370mg sodium!!!) and this was the "best" choice!

Chick-Fil-A

Breakfast
2 scrambled eggs, fruit cup, OJ or skim milk, coffee (black) - (no cal. info, only fat content. 4g of fat for this combo)

Sunflower Multigrain Bagel, small fruit cup - (3g fat total)

Lunch/Dinner - They broke their nutrition information out into sections giving "low fat" options.  Full nutritional info is available on their site.

Chick-Fil-A Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich (3.5g fat)

Southwest Chargrilled Salad w/ Fat Free Honey Mustard Dressing (9g fat)

Taco Bell

Lunch/Dinner - Taco Bell's nutrition info kind of surprised me!  There are several choices here that are better than I would have ever expected, for fast food that is.

Fresco Crunchy Taco (150 cal. 7g fat, 7g protein, 350mg sodium)

Fresco Chicken Soft Taco (150 cal. 3.5g fat, 12g protein, 480mg sodium)

Fresco Grilled Steak Soft Taco (150 cal. 4g fat, 9g protein, 520mg sodium)

Chicken Soft Taco (180 cal. 6g fat, 14g protein, 460mg sodium)

   Cheese Roll-up (190 cal. 9g fat, 9g protein, 450mg sodium)

Soft Taco, Beef (200 cal. 9g fat, 10g protein, 540mg sodium)

   Pintos'n Cheese (170 cal. 6g fat, 9g protein, 580mg sodium)

Mexican Rice (120 cal. 3.5g fat, 2g protein, 200mg sodium)

So....There are a few items that if you find yourself in the position where you must eat fast food, these are the "healthiest" choices!  The sodium content in everything blew my mind!!

on a side note:  One large sweet iced tea from McDonalds has 280 calories!  in just one cup!  get a refill....That's 560 calories that you just drank!!

Almost all of these items cost approx. $3-$5, and even though they are a "better" choice out of their menu's, by no means are they even close to a Good Choice!!

For that same $4, you could be giving your body all the nutrients that it craves!  Shakeology has over 70 ingredients that are all natural, plant based and 100% healthy!  And as an added bonus, the average participant in independent studies lost about 10 lbs just by replacing a meal each day with Shakeology!
I wouldn't recommend anything that I don't truly believe in, and use every day!  I love my shakeology!

Try shakeology for yourself right now!
